It has been a successful Wednesday for College of Arts and Sciences after being proclaimed as champions of Intramurals 2016’s Swimming Competition held at Cebu City Sports Center’s pool area at noon today.
The program began at eight in the morning with the parade of swimmers from College of Arts and Sciences, College of Teacher Education, College of Nursing and CNU Medellin. Each athlete was clad with multi-hued jackets based on the trademark color of the college and campus they represent. Women wore fitted one-piece swimsuits underneath while most men were only clothed with swimming trunks.
After the parade, the competition commenced. Students of Cebu Normal University and few bystanders around the area witnessed the 22 events of the swimming competition, each of which has both men and women categories. Cries of support and loud cheering from the crowd shook the pool area as athletes plunge into the water and resurface at the other side of the pool.
CAS garnered 753 points and 44 medals (20 gold, 16 silver, 8 bronze) while CTE who placed 2nd totaled 654 points and 34 medals (gold, 10 silver, 11 bronze). On the other hand, CN ended with 506 points and 12 medals (1 gold, 3 silver, 8 bronze). Lastly, CNU Medellin had 495 points and 17 medals (5 silver, 12 bronze).
In the end, all brought home not only medals but glory to each of their colleges, increasing its chance to win this Intramurals’ championship title.
